The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) was founded in 1971 and is possibly the most successful consumer campaign ever. It has over 200 branches throughout the UK.
The Heart of Warwickshire branch is one of 24 branches in the West Midlands CAMRA Region, the third largest region with over 15,000 members. It is centred around Warwick and Royal Leamington Spa, with its boundaries shown below.
The original Warwickshire County branch was formed in 1974, which in due course was split into the smaller branches we have today. The Heart of Warwickshire branch was founded on 13 July 1994, with its inaugural meeting held at the Park Tavern in Warwick (now the Wild Boar), and we now have around 350 members.
We visit several of our local real ale pubs in varying towns and villages at our weekly Tuesday evening socials. Non-CAMRA members are very welcome at these and if you enjoy them we would encourage you to join CAMRA.
Our main event every year is the Harbury Beer & Cider Festival on the weekend after the August Bank holiday..
